Girls College Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded every two years.

To receive a college scholarship, the female applicant must have high marks on her KCSE exam, which is similar to our SATs. Each candidate must have volunteered for at least three Alternative Rite of Passage ceremonies and have attended a Life Skills Workshop at Kakenya School for Excellence.

The craftswomen of Esiteti give a percentage of their beaded jewelry sales toward the College Education Fund in partnership with RoHo goods. ASK, James Ole Kamete and the craftswomen choose each recipient.

Seed money for the Girls College Education Fund was gifted by the three daughters of the Jean & Alvin Sternlieb Foundation. Our first recipient, Sueta was awarded a scholarship in 2020 and is pursuing a certification degree in Community Health and Development.

Costs

  • Life Skills Workshop: $100
  • Tuition (including room and board): $2,000
