WHO WE ARE

ASK is a California based non-profit organization supporting local programs for the Maasai living in Amboseli, Kenya. Educational programs developed and implemented by ASK include school scholarships, basic hygiene and life skills training, and comprehensive curriculums promoting human rights, sexual/reproductive rights, gender equality and HIV prevention.

What we do

ASK provides scholarships for students from elementary school through college, which gives marginalized children the human right and opportunity to attend school. Our ARP program protects young girls from the harmful practice of female genital mutilation. The critically needed mobile Health Wagon serves the needs of the Maasai living in five hard to reach communities.

Our Impact

Our focus is on the more than 1200 Maasai people of Esiteti, including the 580 students that attend Esiteti Primary School, which we helped build in 2007. There are over 500 female graduates of our Alternative Rite of Passage program who are untouched by harmful practices. The Health Wagon serves over 5,000 children and adults living in Esiteti and four surrounding communities.
